THE TURTLE RIVER: Your trip will put in at Devils gap, a small lake with high cliffs and pictographs.

A days worth of lakes and portages will bring you to White Otter lake, a staple in the region. White Otter has more than enough to explore for one trip. Among its interesting features is a four story cabin built single-handedly by Jimmy McOuat in 1903. Dubbed “The White Otter castle” it is a true marvel to wrap ones head around. Among the other points of interest on the lake is the “Blue Lagoon”a sand bar which extends to the middle of the lake and promptly drops off into an intensely clear blue abyss. The Lake has many many other places to explore including vision pits believed to have been made-by and used by early indigenous peoples to the region. There are hidden caves on its islands. Not to mention a P.O.W camp from WW1

After White Otter you will begin your decent down the wild beauty known as The Turtle. Here you will find picturesque waterfalls, marshlands, Cliff walls, burn outs with more wild berries than you could eat in a year. Many Class 1 through class 3 rapids and lots of portaging to fill ones desire to hike or smell the flowers…
